A San Diego cop has resigned after "accidentally" locking himself in the backseat with a suspect he arrested.

Officer Anthony Hair has now left his position on the local force after two years of service following newly released body-cam footage that saw him lock himself in the back of his car with a female offender who wanted to have sex with him.

According to CBS 8, Hair found himself in the back of his cruiser with the female after arresting her as one of two suspects accused of stealing a car outside a convenience store.

The unnamed suspect also had a bench warrant out for her arrest, as per a report published by the New York Post.

Hair was supposed to bring the suspect to police headquarters and then to the Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee but instead, he was forced to call another officer after he was locked in the back of his own vehicle.

In the footage released by the San Diego Police Department, she could be heard propositioning the officer, before he reportedly tells her that she's being recorded.

"You’re not too bad. What’s it gonna hurt me if I work the system, you know what I mean? That’s the way I see s***,” she could be heard telling Hair.

"Are you single?" she added, to which he is said to have responded: "Yeah, but you’re not."

"I’m down to f*** right now," she told him before he interrupted, stating: “Don’t say that right now... Don’t say that right now because everything is being recorded right now.”

As they continue towards the detention center, he can be heard asking her what she's doing in the backseat.

However, things took a turn as the officer was driving down a residential area. his GPS suddenly stopped tracking and his bodycam was turned off.

Then approximately 20 minutes later, he called a fellow police officer, confessing that he had locked himself into the back of his own police car.

Speaking of the incident, the police officer called by hair described him as "panicked" before adding: "I asked him if he was okay. He said, yes, and then asked if I had my patrol car key with me... I asked why he was asking and what did he need. Officer Hair then asked me If I could go meet him."

He continued: "I asked him his location and he said, near Cottonwood... I asked him why he needed me, and he said he would tell me when I got there.

"He said he was really embarrassed," the unnamed officer added.

When he arrived at the scene, the pair had been locked in the backseat for over an hour.

Hair denied that anything unsavory had happened there, explaining that he had only gone into the back after he was led to believe that the suspect was suffering from a medical emergency.

"When I was waking her up, that's when I noticed that this door closed on me. That's when I was trying to kind of open the door," Hair could be heard saying.

As for why his bodycam shut off - the officer claimed it was because he "knocked it off its clip."

The suspect also upheld the same story as Hair, but added that he planned on getting with her after she was "done with the warrant or whatever I got arrested for," she told cops.

However, despite both parties confirming that nothing allegedly happened between them in the back of the car, an investigation launched into the matter revealed that there were traces of semen were discovered on Hair's belt after the other cop had found him.

Hair has now resigned from his position and it remains unclear whether he will be facing any criminal charges for his alleged behavior.
