Surge of Bigfoot sightings in this US state sparks major concern as locals issued warning
A sudden spike in reported Bigfoot sightings in Ohio has left many residents concerned.
Several alleged encounters with the legendary ape-like creature have been reported in recent days across Portage County and nearby areas in northeast Ohio.
The first of the recent sightings was seen on March 6 in Mantua. According to the Bigfoot Society page on Facebook, the witness was in a field when they "locked eyes with a nine-foot-tall, brown-haired Sasquatch."
"The terrifying thing is that this happened in the broad daylight at 12:23PM," they added, cited by Yahoo.
Per The Mirror, the witness was reportedly around 120 yards away when the creature noticed it was being watched. They quickly left the area after the encounter.
"The witness admitted they got out of the area just as quickly because when a nine-foot apex predator decides that the encounter is over, you don't want to stick around," the report stated.
Another encounter was reported late the following night when a hiker walking through nearby woodland heard heavy footsteps approaching.
"The footsteps were too low and too spaced out and way too heavy for a deer or another hiker," the report read.
Moments later, the witness claimed a massive creature appeared. "Then, just 40 yards away, a massive eight-foot-tall creature stepped out from behind the trees. Dark brown hair, long arms, and it turned its face just to look directly at (the hiker)."
Unlike the earlier sighting, this one reportedly made a sound. "A deep, echoing grunt that vibrated through the trees. After that, it was total silence," the witness said.
Investigators later disclosed that they found two large humanoid footprints in the area.
Additional Encounters Reported Across The Region
More sightings quickly followed in the days after the initial reports. A local described as a "highly credible resident" claimed that she saw a large creature running past her house in daylight on March 10.
She reported that the roughly seven-foot-tall figure had "dark reddish-brown fur" and "big, fat, round, muscular arms," adding: "It didn't seem like no deer."
Another report came from Newton Township in neighboring Trumbull County at around 4AM on Tuesday (March 10), when a resident, who was letting their dog outside, reported seeing a "massive black shadow between 8 and 10 feet tall."
According to the account, the dog "went ballistic, lunging toward the wood line".
"This witness is extremely shook up. Extremely emotional about it," Bigfoot Society investigator Jeremiah Byron said in a video update. "I spoke with the witness personally on the phone. They are wanting to stay anonymous about the entire thing."
Residents Warned To Stay Alert
With so many reports occurring within a short period of time, Bigfoot enthusiasts say the activity is unusual.
"It’s normal for there to be Bigfoot sightings all over the United States, but it’s not normal to have multiple sightings in a small area within a short number of days," Byron told Fox News.
The Bigfoot Society has issued a warning to residents in the affected areas: "If you're in Portage County or Mantua Center, Ohio, right now, pay attention. Something's moving through these corridors."
"If you're in this area, keep your eyes open and maybe your doors locked because there could be a Bigfoot in the same general vicinity," they added.
