A Ventura County middle school history teacher was removed from her position after she was recorded telling her class that Donald Trump is still president.
As reported by CBS LA, a student recorded his history teacher, who has not been named, sharing her political views in footage that the boy's mother Sarah Silikula shared with the Ventura Unified School District.
In the seven-minute video taken on October 18, the Anacapa Middle School teacher can be heard repeating baseless theories about vaccines, saying that they "do not prevent the virus from spreading" and "actually caused more variants."
The teacher says in the footage: "People need to wake up and see the government has way too much power right now."
She then began spreading damning allegations about President Joe Biden's son Hunter, saying: "Hunter Biden, for example, is doing deals with China and Ukraine where he was funneling money illegally.
"He also had child pornography on his laptop. He was having sexual intercourse with his own niece."
Elsewhere in the recording, the teacher claimed that unvaccinated parents would have difficulties getting their own babies back if they were in the hospital.
Speaking to CBS LA, Silikula questioned why the teacher felt it necessary to share her rather extreme views with her middle school class.
Silikula said: "I mean, why? Why does that need to be said in this classroom full of children."
She added: "And he got in the car and he was very upset. He announced, ‘I’m never getting vaccinated. I’m never getting any more shots of any kind. Did you know Trump’s still president?'"
When the Ventura Unified School District got a hold of the footage, the history teacher was removed from her position at the school, but officials working for the district told The Washington Post that after investigating the incident, it was decided she should be kept on as a district employee.
"The teacher has expressed deep remorse," a school district spokeswoman told The Washington Post.
However, Superintendent Roger Rice said in a statement to the paper that the district does not condone the teacher's actions, adding: "The Ventura Unified School District will work closely with staff to ensure that this does not happen again."
