Trump gives Iran one major ultimatum after warning 'massive armada' is heading towards country
In a stark warning to Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that a "massive armada" was on its way to the Middle Eastern country, urging Iran to reach a deal with the U.S. over its nuclear program.
The president stated that if Tehran failed to negotiate, the U.S. would consider launching a large-scale military response. The escalation of tensions follows ongoing unrest in Iran and long-standing concerns over the country’s nuclear ambitions.
Trump's warning comes amid mounting international pressure on Iran, which has faced sanctions and military threats aimed at curbing its nuclear development.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Iran’s time was running out, urging Tehran to "make a deal" to prevent a catastrophic military outcome. The president highlighted the deployment of a significant naval fleet, led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, which he said was moving with great purpose and readiness.
Trump reiterates nuclear deal demands
Trump’s message to Iran echoed previous calls for a renegotiation of the nuclear deal, which he unilaterally abandoned in 2018. Since then, the U.S. has reimposed harsh sanctions and conducted military operations, including the controversial Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025.
This operation targeted key Iranian nuclear sites, and Trump made it clear that any further refusal to negotiate could lead to even worse consequences for Tehran.
The president's comments come on the heels of recent protests in Iran, which have fueled growing unrest. Authorities’ violent crackdown on demonstrators has only heightened U.S. concerns over human rights abuses, with Trump having previously warned of military action if Iran continued its brutal suppression of protests. This warning appears to have had some impact, leading to a temporary de-escalation of tensions.
Iran remains defiant amid mounting pressure
Despite Trump’s ultimatum, Iranian officials have not shown signs of yielding. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that he had not been in touch with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and that Iran had not sought negotiations.
As the situation unfolds, it remains uncertain whether Trump’s latest threats will prompt a change in Tehran’s stance or lead to further military escalation in the region.
