Dominion Voting Systems has filed a defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump's lawyer Sidney Powell on Friday (January 8) over claims of electoral fraud.
Describing the claims as "wild accusations", the Associated Press (AP) reports, the company asserted that they did not rig the election in favor of Joe Biden.
"Dominion brings this action to set the record straight," the company said in the suit filed in federal court in Washington.
Powell made her unsubstantiated claims for weeks, claiming that the election technology vendor, whose equipment was used in a number of states, rigged the election against Donald Trump and in favor of Joe Biden.

Following the election outcome, Powell has represented Trump in various unsuccessful lawsuits to contest the result.
As part of Powell's alleged defamation of the company, she claims that it was established in Venezuela to rig elections for the late leader Hugo Chavez and that its technology can switch votes.
A range of election officials including Trump's former attorney general, William Barr, have all confirmed that there was no fraud in the 2020 election, the AP continued.
The integrity of the electoral process in key battleground states crucial to Biden’s victory has also been vouched for by Republican governors in Arizona and Georgia.
This woman was left distraught after discovering that her daughter voted for Joe Biden in the election:The company said there "there are mountains of direct evidence that conclusively disprove Powell's vote manipulation claims against Dominion - namely, the millions of paper ballots that were audited and recounted by bipartisan officials and volunteers in Georgia and other swing states, which confirmed that Dominion accurately counted votes on paper ballots."
Dominion stated that when they informed Powell that her claims against them were unfounded, she "doubled down" and instead took to Twitter to amplify her claims.
Powell has already been sued by Eric Coomer, Dominion’s security director, and so too has Rudy Giuliani and the president's campaign for defamation.
Coomer’s lawsuit, filed in Colorado, where Dominion is based, also named a number of Conservative columnists and news outlets.
This comes after a Trump supporter who donated $2.5m to fight election fraud asked for their money back.
