President Donald Trump has spoken out after a 37-year-old nurse was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minnesota.
On Saturday (January 24), Alex Pretti - another American citizen - was killed by federal immigration officers just weeks after the death of Renee Good.
The shooting occurred on January 24, during what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) described as a targeted operation involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol agents.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:05AM near Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis, where federal agents encountered Pretti while conducting an enforcement operation in the area.
Officials allege that Pretti approached agents while armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two loaded magazines and resisted efforts to disarm him.
DHS stated that an agent discharged their weapon in what was described as a defensive response.
Emergency medical aid was administered at the scene, but Pretti was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Now, Donald Trump has spoken out after calls for an investigation into Pretti's death.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Trump said: “We’re looking, we’re reviewing everything and will come out with a determination."
He added: “I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it.
"But I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two magazines loaded up with bullets also. That doesn’t play good either."
Trump called Pretti's gun - which appeared to be removed from his waistband by an officer shortly before the fatal shooting - a "very dangerous gun, a dangerous and unpredictable gun. It’s a gun that goes off when people don’t know it."
Pretti's death has sparked widespread outrage, including condemnation from former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
Questions have been raised over whether the action was justified or not, based on video footage before and after the nurse was shot.
Videos showed that Pretti had been attempting to help a woman to her feet after she was allegedly shoved into the snow by an ICE agent.
He was then pepper sprayed before being tackled to the ground where a struggle ensued before he was shot multiple times by the officers.
Trump also addressed when ICE agents would leave the city, adding: "At some point, we will leave. We’ve done, they’ve done a phenomenal job. We’ll leave a different group of people there for the financial fraud."
This appears to be referring to ongoing investigations into alleged welfare fraud in the state.
Trump added on Truth Social: "The Trump Administration is standing by and waiting for ANY Democrat to do the right thing and work with us on these important matters of MAKING AMERICA SAFE like it is in all sections of our country where we are, together with Local Leadership, participating and involved."
