A Trump supporter has criticized his "rambling, bullying" behavior to his face during a video call with the president.

The incident took place during the 'Returning to Work Town Hall' on Fox News on Sunday night at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, when retired nurse and elementary school guidance counselor Carolyn Perkins put the president on the spot.

She began by thanking Trump for his "great dedication to the country" and said she and her husband pray for him before going on to question his "manner of presentation".

Trump branded a reporter at a coronavirus press briefing a "disgrace":

"Why do you use descriptive words that could be classified as bullying and why do you not directly answer the questions by the press, but instead speak of past successes and generally ramble," Perkins said via a video link.

"[The] USA needs you. Please let go of those behaviors that are turning people away from you. Please hold on to your wonderful attributes that make you a great leader and let go of other characteristics that do not serve you."

"I think I like that question," Trump said before beginning a long convoluted answer that saw him attack the "hostile press" and claim that he's been treated worse than any other president, including Abraham Lincoln (who was famously shot and killed).

"Look, I am greeted with a hostile press, the likes of which no president has ever seen. The closest will be that gentleman up there," the president said, pointing to the Lincoln Memorial.

"They always say nobody got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse. You there, you see those press conferences. They come at me with questions that are disgraceful. Their manner of presentation and their words.

"I feel like if I was kind to them, I would be walked off the stage. I mean, they come at you with the most horrible, horrendous, biased questions. You see it. 94 to 95 percent of the press is hostile," Trump continued.

It's safe to say not everybody on Twitter found Trump's self-comparison to President Lincoln too accurate:

This, however, is far from the first time that Trump has lashed out at the press during the coronavirus pandemic. Per the Metro, on one occasion, he told a CNN reporter he didn't "have the brains he was born with."

The president concluded by thanking Perkins for her question then saying, "but I'm standing up there and instead of asking me a normal question, the level of hatred…" before trailing off.
