The voter fraud helpline established by President Trump in the wake of the 2020 election has been forced to shut down after a slew of prank calls.
ABC News reported that the hotline was set up at the Trump campaign's headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, last week with the intent of giving American voters the opportunity to report any suspected incidents of voter fraud.

However, after the helpline's number was posted online, the New York Post reports, it was beset with prank calls, many of which mocked the call handlers over Joe Biden's projected 2020 election win.
CNN reported that following the slew of prank calls, the hotline has been shut down after just a week in operation and instead been replaced with a website serving the same purpose.
This comes after Donald Trump gave his first address since the election on Thursday of last week, claiming the existence of widespread voter fraud.
The 45th President of the United States said "if you count the legal votes, I easily win".
"If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us," Trump said at a press conference following the 2020 Election, per news.com.au.

As a result of factual inaccuracies, a number of news channels were forced to cut off the speech mid-broadcast.
MSNBC's Brian Williams wasted no time in cutting off President Trump's speech, ABC News reported.
"Here we are again in the unusual position of not only interrupting the President of the United States but correcting the President of the United States," Williams said.
"There are no illegal votes that we know of, there has been no Trump victory that we know of."
At a later Trump campaign press conference, Fox News cut off White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany mid-speech as she also voiced claims of voter fraud at a press conference despite there being no evidence.

McEnany did not provide any details to substantiate the allegations, so Fox News host Neil Cavuto explained he was cutting off the broadcast as he could not in "good countenance " let the press secretary continue.
Following the widespread claims of voter fraud, which have been condemned by election officials, per the Guardian, Barack Obama shared his thoughts on his precursor's reaction to failing to win a second term.
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Obama said Trump's fraud claims "appear to be motivated, in part, because the president doesn't like to lose and never admits loss. I'm more troubled by the fact that other Republican officials who clearly know better are going along with this, are humoring him in this fashion."
