Tucker Carlson has been met with fierce criticism after making "vile" jokes about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fearing she "was going to die" during the Capitol riots on January 6.

As reported by BuzzFeed News, AOC took to Instagram Live on Tuesday night (January 12) to recall her "traumatizing" experiences as the deadly insurrection ensued.

Explaining that she was not sure if she was able to "disclose the full details" due to the security implications, the 31-year-old told her followers: "I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive."

She said: "I can tell you that I had a very close encounter where I thought I was going to die."

"I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive, and not just in a general sense but also in a very, very specific sense," the congresswoman added, saying it was "not an exaggeration" to say that many members of the House were "nearly assassinated".

"We were very lucky that things happened within certain minutes that allowed members to escape the House floor unharmed," she added. "Many of us merely narrowly escaped death."

Now, following AOC's comments, Fox News host Tucker Carlson went on a verbal tirade again the congresswoman, mocking her concerns.

Watch Carlson deliver his comments below:

While playing clips from Ocasio-Cortez's hour-long Instagram Story, Carlson labeled her the "dumbest and most narcissistic" member of Congress, and claimed she was a hypocrite for supporting campaigns to defund the police while also praising the Capitol officers.

Carlson also called the congresswoman a "vacuous little totalitarian moron".

During the belittling segment, Carlson sarcastically repeated AOC's "Narrowly escaped death" comment.

He continued: "When the most harrowing thing you've done in life is pass freshman sociology at Boston University, every day is a brand new drama! Sandy’s heart is still beating fast!"

Following the segment, Carlson was swiftly condemned for his "vile" and "dangerous" comments.

Political analyst Mehdi Hasan tweeted: "Forget awful politics, this is just vile and vicious.

"It’s also sheer hypocrisy - Carlson famously made a song and dance on his show about an 'attack' on his home and his family which wasn’t an attack, but now says @AOC shouldn’t be afraid for her life as armed mobs with nooses *actually* attacked and looted her place of work."

Another tweeted: "This is incredibly dangerous. Tucker is gonna get AOC killed."

A third wrote: "this is exactly the kinda rhetoric that inspired and incited the violence in the first place. foxnews & their bigots in tv need to be held accountable too. [sic]"

On January 6, pro-Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol building in an attempt to stop the congressional tally of the Electoral College votes confirming Joe Biden's win in the 2020 presidential election.

Amid the chaos and vandalizing, five people lost their lives as a result of the riots, including a US Capitol police officer.
