New fears have been sparked over the condition of Donald Trump's health after people spotted a concerning sign during King Charles’ state visit.
The president displayed significant bruising and discoloration on his left hand as he welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla on their state visit to Washington D.C. on Monday.
Images of Trump’s hand circulated on social media following the public appearance prompting questions over the 79-year-old’s well-being.
Despite the marks reportedly being covered up by makeup, his left hand has shown signs of bruising on several occasions over the past year.
Journalist Aaron Rupar shared a statement followed by a picture of Trump’s hand saying,
"Trump's right hand has been in bad shape for a long time now, but this picture taken today shows discoloration on the back of his left hand."
Speculations began swirling as one social media user chimed in: "He's getting IV drugs. 100%. What kind, is the question. A White House reporter should just ask him that question.”
Since his return to the White House, the president has been spotted with prominent, dark marks on the backs of both hands.
Previously, the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, explained that the marks are a result of the president’s hand shaking, shortly before describing him as a “man of the people”.
Last year, she added: "President Trump has bruises on his hand because he's constantly working and shaking hands all day, every day.”
In January, the White House announced that he had developed a bruise from "clipping" his hand on the table shortly before the World Economic Forum.
The British royals arrived for their four-day state visit on Monday, receiving flowers from children of British military families stationed in the US as an ensemble played both countries’ national anthems.
