A woman running for the US Senate has been recorded swiftly shutting down a man's flirting attempt.

Morgan Harper, 38, is a politician and attorney who is currently canvassing in the run-up to the November elections in the hope of representing Ohio.

However, while making an appearance at the Ohio Classic, the Democratic candidate was recorded being approached by a man - not to praise her for her policies, but instead, comment on her appearance.

In a video shared to TikTok, the man can be seen stopping Harper and saying: "I just want to say, you’re gorgeous."

The encounter can be seen below:

In response to the guy's comment, Harper opted to shine a light on the more important matter of her campaign, telling the man: "I’m also running for US Senate so more importantly, you need to make sure you’re paying attention to my Senate race."

Harper then officially introduced herself, shook the man's hand, and said, "nice to meet you."

In less than a week, the clip went viral on TikTok, and has currently amassed over 1.3 million views. And over in the comments section, Harper was praised for her professional handling of the situation.

"So thrilled to have a strong, progressive candidate in the race! Forget Tim Ryan, this is the Ohio we deserve," one person wrote.

Another commented: "Yasss!!! A POC female leadership is BEAUTIFUL".

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I love this energy....if I could vote I'd vote for you....this is Senate energy!!!"

In a follow-up tweet, Harper confirmed that it was, in fact, her fiancé recording the video. She tweeted: "Broke: Jealous men.

"Woke: Your fiancé keeps the camera rolling while you get hit on—then the clip goes viral on TikTok."

As reported by Indy100, Harper is currently hoping to unseat US Rep Tim Ryan in the 2022 Senate primaries.

She has not only studies at the likes of Princeton, Stanford, and Tufts, but her experience also includes positions at the Federal Trade Commission and the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

On her Twitter bio she writes: "I fight corporate power. Running to represent working people of OH. It’s our turn."
