A woman alleged that "somebody ran her off the road" while driving, but dashcam footage of the accident completely disproves her claims.

An Instagram user who goes by the handle @dashcam.encounters took to the social media platform to share a woman’s car accident on August 25, which took place in Arlington, Washington.

In the video, the driver, who had rented the car, initially claimed that another driver had forced her off the road.

However, the video revealed a very different story.

As the clip unfolds, the woman can be seen “completely glued to her phone,” with one hand on the steering wheel and the other typing away on her device while driving.

The video shows her almost veering off the road several times, but she continues typing, barely glancing up.

At one point, she is seen steering with both hands off the wheel, completely focused on her phone as her rental car drifts right, crashing into a resident’s mailbox.

As the vehicle hits the mailbox, the woman erupts in a fit of profanity, followed by screams of frustration and covering her face in distress as the clip ends.

The owner of the rental car expressed outrage in the caption, writing: "You don’t drive distracted, MUCH LESS WHEN IT ISN’T YOUR CAR!!!"

The owner went on to criticize the woman for lying about the cause of the accident, especially when the entire incident was captured by the dashcam.

“Putting her on blast because what the hell were you thinking to lie to me when you knew there was a dashcam that captured the entire thing[?]” the post continued.

“I put my car on Turo to make some extra money, and TRUST the driver that they won’t destroy my car and someone else’s property.”

The video quickly garnered attention, with many viewers sharing their reactions in the comments section.

One user commented: “Wow she’s actually lucky she drifted to the right, could have been way worse.”

Another user slammed the woman’s actions, writing: “This is insaneeee.

"Her nearly going off the road the first time should’ve been her wake up call.

"She barely looked up once, and with both hands off the steering wheel? Insane. Like the car isn’t self driving.”

A third commenter remarked: “And she screams and cries like she wasn’t on her phone the whole damn time honestly rarely looking at the road. She’s lucky she didn’t kill someone.”

A fourth added: “It is truly scary to know that there are people like this driving heavy machinery on the roads.

"And you can see it just by going up and down any highway.”

The case has sparked concerns about the dangers of distracted driving and the growing need for accountability when it comes to operating vehicles on public roads.

In response to the incident, the rental car owner revealed that they are pursuing "the most amount of legal action" against the woman involved.
