If you have the right barber, a haircut can be a stunning transformation, presenting your best self to the world. The right haircut can provide a massive boost of self-esteem - just look at this homeless man's incredible reaction after a barber gave him an astonishing makeover. However, the wrong haircut can flush your self-esteem down the toilet; every time you look in the mirror, you cringe.
That's why it's always a good idea to bring a photo to the barber so he or she knows exactly what you want. If you just try to describe the style, they might not understand. But if you show the hairdresser an image, there's no way they can mess it up, right?
Wrong! In China, one man visited the barber, and paused a video of a model to show the hairstyle he desired. Reportedly the barber studied the image, then asked the costumer if he wanted the triangles kept in. The man didn't really understand what the barber meant, but answered "yes." We all do that sometimes, thinking it will save embarrassment, and in this case it definitely did not.
The barber proceeded to shave the paused video's 'play' icon into the man's hair, leaving him with two triangles cut down to the scalp. I guess there is such a thing as paying too much attention to detail. Entertainment blogger Tian Xiu Bot posted about the incident on China's Twitter-like platform Weibo on December 30. He commented, "There are not so many rigorous hairdressers like this left," according to The Daily Mail. The post was shared more than 20,000 times, racking up over 20,000 comments and over 70,000 likes.
In the response, one person commented, "[The barber] indeed copied the model's hairstyle in the exact way." Another person joked, "This is a new trending haircut," while a third posted: "I watched (the video) three times before realizing that was a play button." (The blogger also shared footage of the man who claimed to be the customer, happily strutting across the room. Hey, at least he was a good sport about it!)
Well, sometimes the greatest inventions happen by accident, don't they? In an internet-obsessed world, 'play' icon haircuts could become the new trend. And why stop there? The 'pause' icon, the 'volume' icon, the 'settings' icon, Twitter blue checks, Facebook thumbs up, heart emojis, clap emojis, poo emojis - the future of hair is here!
If this man just got a regular haircut, he might have looked good, but never would have gone viral. It is not known whether he decided to keep the 'play' icon, but I hope he did. Now he's internet-famous as the 'Play Icon Hair Guy." See, I told you haircuts can give stunning transformations! After one trip to the barber, this guy's got a whole new identity.
