Denmark's Christian Eriksen has sent "greetings" from hospital following his collapse on the pitch during the nation's clash with Finland.
Soccer fans all over the world sent their best wishes to Eriksen and his teammates after the 29-year-old midfielder collapsed during the 43rd minute of yesterday's Denmark v. Finland Euro 2020 game.
Taking place at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, the game was suspended as medics attended to the motionless Inter Milan star.
Eriksen's wife rushed onto the pitch as his emotional teammates formed a barrier around the player as he received medical attention.
As he was carried out of the stadium on a stretcher, Eriksen appeared to be conscious. An update posted to the official UEFA Twitter page revealed that he was in a stable condition in hospital.
Now, the Danish Football Association has issued a statement on their official Twitter page, providing an update on Eriksen. The statement reads:
"This morning we have spoken to Christian Eriksen, who has sent his greetings to his teammates. His condition is stable and he continues to be hospitalized for further examination.
"The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday's incident.
"We would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt greetings to Christian Eriksen from fans, players, the Royal Families from both Denmark and England international associations, clubs etc.
"We encourage everyone to send their greetings to the Danish FA, where we will make sure they are all passed on to Christian and his family."
After receiving the news that Eriksen was stable, players from both Denmark and Finland's national teams agreed to restart the game later in the evening.
Denmark went on to lose the game, with Finland securing the victory with a final score of 1-0 following a 59th-minute goal from Joel Pohjanpalo.
Following the game, fans from both sides stayed to chant the name of the fallen midfielder.
Our thoughts continue to be with Eriksen, his family, friends, teammates, and fans as he recovers.
