Social media users have been left perplexed after a bizarre "creepy" figure was spotted on Google Street View.
As reported by the New York Post, the figure was spotted near the Bears Ears Visitor Center in the town of Bluff in Utah. As you can see from the screenshot below, the figure is still present on Google's Street View and I wish I could scrub it from my internet history as well as my memory.
The figure appears to be a human-like creature with long, wavy arms. Due to Google Street View's privacy feature, its face has been blurred.
After screenshots of the figure were shared on social media, many people were quick to share their thoughts.
Over on Reddit, one user asked: "What is this thing in Bluff Park Utah on Google Street view?!" - To which, one person replied: "Guessing it’s a creepy statue."
A second Reddit user joked: "sorry that’s just me out for a run".
And over on TikTok, the image was shared in a video by user @netherlandjd2, who captioned their post: "What is this???" Check out the video below:
"It's just weird," @netherlandjd2 says in the video. "Like, is it a wooden statue, or like maybe a clay/mud statue or something? At Bluff Park -- I don't know what this is."
In response to the video, some Bluff residents were left just as confused as @netherlandjd2, with one person commenting: "I’ve been living there for 10 years and I still don’t know what it is."
A second added: "I’ve been living there for 10 years and I still don’t know what it is."
One person even theorized that it was potentially an illusion created by somebody running and the Google Street View camera distorting their body.
However, many others believed the piece was nothing more than a unique "art" piece. And it would seem that they are correct, as the New York Post reports that the figure is a statue that serves as a "scarecrow" of sorts and is one of many in the town of Bluff.
So there you have it. We can all sleep soundly tonight knowing that some naked long-armed fella isn't running around the streets of Utah... in the town of Bluff, at least.
