Donald Trump stuns crowd as he suddenly praises wife Melania's 'panties' and explains in detail what he likes about them
President Donald Trump spent part of his recent rally talking about his wife Melania Trump’s underwear during a discussion that began with inflation and lowering drug prices. The comments came on Friday, December 19, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where Trump, 79, also reflected on the FBI’s 2022 search of his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida.
While referencing the search, Trump turned to his wife’s personal belongings and described her organization and clothing. He brought up the subject unexpectedly while speaking before supporters.
Trump makes personal remarks about Melania’s clothes
Trump said, “They went into my wife's closet ... they looked at her drawers,” when talking about the search, referring to Melania, 55, whom he married in 2005.
He then continued, “Her undergarments, sometimes referred to as panties, are folded perfect, wrapped. They're, like, so perfect.” Trump added, “I think that she steams them.”
The FBI executed the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 during an investigation that followed the National Archives and Records Administration’s removal of 15 boxes of documents earlier that year that should have been handed over at the end of Trump’s presidency.
After the search, the public saw the warrant and property receipt, which showed agents were looking for anything that could show Trump had removed or destroyed records, obstructed justice or violated the Espionage Act.
The search yielded 11 sets of classified documents, including some marked “top secret” that are typically only viewed at secure government facilities.

Legal battles and past investigations
Trump was later indicted by a federal grand jury in June 2023 for his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House, making him the first U.S. president to face federal criminal charges.
He was arrested and arraigned in the U.S. District Court of South Florida and pleaded not guilty to all charges. An updated version of the indictment added counts, but the case was dismissed in July 2024.
Over the past decade, Trump has faced a number of legal controversies at both the state and federal level.
These include an investigation into an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign, actions related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, and legal trouble for himself and 18 allies over efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
