Everything we know after 'mom' faked pregnancy and pretended doll was newborn baby
A bizarre story has gone viral after Kira Cousins, a 22-year-old woman from Airdrie, Scotland, was accused of pretending to be pregnant and even giving birth to a doll. The online scandal has sparked outrage, as Kira allegedly went to great lengths to convince her partner, family, and friends that she was expecting a child. She shared false hospital updates, hosted a gender-reveal party, and posted numerous images of baby clothes and gifts on social media, all while concealing the truth.
Kira's deception began months before her supposed "birth," with her using a prosthetic pregnancy bump and sharing photos of ultrasound scans. As part of her narrative, Kira even claimed that her baby had a serious medical condition. Family members believed the baby was on the way and bought gifts such as a £1,000 pram and car seat. Everything seemed normal until Kira's mother discovered the truth about the so-called newborn.
Months of deception leading up to the reveal
According to reports, Kira spent around nine months crafting the illusion of pregnancy. She hosted a gender-reveal party where she announced that her child, named Bonnie-Leigh, was a girl. However, family members began to notice oddities, like how the "baby" never cried, moved, or seemed alive.
On October 10, Kira announced the birth of Bonnie-Leigh, weighing 5lbs 4oz. When the paternal grandmother met the newborn, she found it unusually cold and lifeless. Kira reportedly dismissed her concerns, claiming that the baby had been unwell and had just returned from the hospital.
The truth came out when Kira’s mother found the "baby" alone in her bedroom. It turned out that Bonnie-Leigh was not a real infant but a lifelike reborn doll, a handmade creation designed to resemble a human baby. These dolls can be purchased for anywhere from £30 to £2,000, and they are often used by collectors or people seeking to fulfill an emotional need.
Family and friends react to the shocking discovery
The revelation has left Kira’s family and friends in shock. Kira’s close friend, Neave McRobert, spoke out, revealing that she had noticed Kira had deleted all photos and videos of the baby from their chats. When Neave confronted Kira’s boyfriend about the situation, he confirmed that the baby was indeed a doll.
Neave expressed her disbelief, saying, “Everybody believed her. She had a gender reveal, she posted scan photos and even said the baby had a hole in its heart. Then she texted me saying the baby was born. We were all so happy."

A friend of Kira’s family, who had known her for years, admitted that she had suspected something was off even before the truth came to light. She mentioned, “I noticed straight away that her bump wasn’t real. It was all lumpy, and you could see the straps holding it on.” Despite her suspicions, this person said she didn’t feel she could speak out, fearing ridicule from others.
Kira has since responded to the situation in a TikTok video, admitting the deception but insisting that she had not intended to deceive everyone in the way that she did. She said, “In my own words let’s set this straight. I was in bed when my mother came into my room and found it to be a doll. The next thing I know, I was confronted by all the family…” She added, “They haven't let me get away with this. THEY HAVEN’T.”
