A man's romantic clifftop proposal went horrifically wrong after his fiancée fell 650ft off the cliff just moments after saying yes.
As reported by German tabloid newspaper Bild, the unfortunate couple had trekked to the top of the mountain in Carinthia, Austria, where the man, 27, proposed to his 32-year-old girlfriend.
However, moments after saying 'yes', the heartwarming celebration turned to panic as the woman slipped in the snow and fell 650ft over the cliff-edge.
In an effort to save his new fiancée, the man leaped out in an effort to grab her, but he also lost his footage and was sent tumbling over the edge with her.
Fortunately, the pair survived, with the woman landing on a mound of snow that had covered a frozen lake. Additionally, the man was left hanging on for his life, after plunging 50ft.
The alarm was raised after a passer-by spotted the woman.
A rescue helicopter was then scrambled and sent to the cliff edge to find the man, who was still hanging on for dear life.
A police officer who was present at the incident told reporters:
"The two were extremely lucky! He flew 15 meters through the air. The woman fell 200 meters over rocky terrain.
"Had it not been for snow, it would have turned out very differently."
Sadly the couple didn't get away totally unscathed. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the man was diagnosed with a vertebrate fracture.
It may not sound like the most romantic proposal, but how many people out there can say that their partner would literally fall off a cliff for them.
I, for one, cannot wait to hear the Best Man speech.
But that wasn't the only disastrous proposal of 2020 (it is 2020 after all).
Earlier this year, a couple went viral after their boat proposal ended up looking like a Three Stooges sketch.
Take a look at the hilarious proposal fail in the video below:

After popping the million-dollar question, the couple went to embrace when, all of a sudden, the bride-to-be accidentally nudged the boat's throttle in her excitement, knocking her over and sending her fiancé into the drink with a swift kick to the face.

There's no doubt that getting down on one knee and asking someone for their hand in marriage is one of the most anxiety-inducing experiences a person will ever go through.
When you pluck up the courage to finally pop the question to your special someone, you want the setting to be just right, and for everything to go according to plan.
However, this week a video has gone viral on social media, showing us all how not to propose to someone.
Take a look at the hilarious proposal fail in the video below:

The footage in question was first shared by Twitter user Theo Shantonas, and it shows a man and a woman riding a boat each out on the water. The man can be seen showing the woman an engagement ring, and asking her the million-dollar question. So far, so good.
But when she went in for an emotional embrace, everything went wrong at once. As the video shows, the boat rocked slightly when the bride-to-be accidentally nudged her boat's throttle in her excitement, knocking her over and sending her fiancé into the drink.

On Twitter, it seems as though a great number of people experienced second-hand cringe over the toe-curling footage, and took to the comments to make their reactions plain.
For instance, one viewer wrote:
"Honestly, if you can survive a karate kick to the head, nearly drowning, and a boat crash all in a few seconds chances are you'll survive a long, exciting, fruitful marriage. Congrats to the both of you."
Per Fox News, it's not known whether or not Theo himself actually recorded the footage, or just acquired it, but he later posted a follow-up tweet asking his followers to be nicer to the couple, and adding that the woman still said yes.
So there you have it folks: no matter how scary it is to ask "will you marry me", just remember that, even if things go wrong, there's a good chance they'll still say "of course I will."

Proposals are scary, and it's common for one's mind to race before popping the question about all the possible bad outcomes that could happen as soon as you get on one knee.
..Although, diving into the sea probably isn't one of them.
The classic 'engagement ring cost rule' is that it should be worth three months' salary. However, popular wedding publication Brides revealed in a 2020 study that the average amount to spend on a ring was $3,700 - which is down from the $7,800 that their study showed in 2018.
Now, imagine spending that amount of money on a ring, only to drop it into the sea as soon as you get down on one knee.
TikTok user @smclyne found himself in that exact scenario. He shared the video of the mishap to his account which at the time of writing has amassed over 8 million views.
Standing on a boat in picturesque surroundings, the TikToker accidentally drops the ring into the water as he removes it from his pocket, but immediately dives head first after it.
During the video, he pens: "Dropped the ring in the gulf during my proposal," and explains that he entered "full panic mode".
Luckily for him, his heroics of leaping off the boat ended in success and he was able to retrieve the ring. Luckily for us, he ensured there was GoPro footage of the entire event unfolding.
Watch the GoPro footage below:The soon-to-be-groom further updated viewers with an image of his fiancée wearing the ring that he had salvaged from the sea.
People were quick to add light to the situation in the comments section, with one person writing: "I mean I would hope she said yes, he went literally head over heals [sic] for her."
Another added: "I feel like this was probably perfection and matched y’all relationship."
A third user commended the man's commitment: "Some people just drop on their knees in a proposal but this guy literally dove in the ocean," and a fourth concluded: "Listen, this is a sign to all the men to keep the ring in the box till it's on her finger. That box saved him."
If that dive is a sign of his commitment to his bride-to-be, we're sure they'll have a very happy marriage!

A man tragically fell 650 feet to his death moments after posing for a photo with his girlfriend.
As reported by The New York Post, 30-year-old Andrea Mazzetto from Italy - a building contractor by profession - had been enjoying an afternoon stroll in his hometown of Rotzo, Vicenza, last weekend when he reportedly lost his footing and fell off a precipice.
At the time of the fatal fall, he had been trying to retrieve a dropped cellphone.
The final picture of him alive was taken with his girlfriend Sara Bragante as they climbed the Altar Knotto rock. The grieving woman later took to her Instagram stories to share the image with the caption (translated from Italian): “Our cursed last photo together. You will always be with me, my little bear.”
The image in question shows Mazzetto - who is dressed in a white Calvin Klein t-shirt - taking a selfie with Bragante, who is seen donning a light pink t-shirt and navy green shorts.
A rescue team sent out by helicopter had managed to find him after his fall but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Initially, it was reported that Mazzetto had been trying to retrieve Bragante's phone, however, local authorities later confirmed it was actually Mazzetto's phone that fell. He will reportedly be buried on Wednesday.
Last week, it was reported that a retired journalist had fallen more than 70 feet to his death while on vacation in Milwaukee.
Richard Dujardin, 77, from Rhode Island, was walking on the Kilbourn Avenue Bridge with his wife on Monday (August 15) when the bridge began to rise up.
According to a report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office obtained by People, Richard was walking with his wife Rosemarie when the ground beneath them began to move.
Although Rosemarie managed to make it across the bridge in time, Richard was still only halfway across when the drawbridge began rising up.
The report described how the panicking man "grabbed onto the side rail" as the bridge opened. He hung off the rail for 1-2 minutes, but "ultimately lost his grip" - and fell over 70 feet to the ground.
