As 2022 comes to a close, many of us are already looking to the year ahead. The 2020s thus far have been unpredictable (to say the least), so it doesn't come as a surprise that some are turning to Baba Vanga's prophecies to enlighten us.

Baba Vanga was a famous clairvoyant mystic hailing from Bulgaria, she passed away in 1996 aged 84 but her predictions for decades well past her death still circulate today.

The prophetess rose to fame throughout the Second World War, with her most notable predictions culminating in the Chornobyl disaster and the 9/11 attacks, among others. But what did she foretell for 2023?

Despite a lack of official records documenting Baba Vanga's prophecies, to many, they remain prevalent. Here's what the blind clairvoyant believed was in store for the coming year, according to Sky History.

Baba Vanga reportedly forecasted a solar storm for 2023, which is a phenomenon where the Sun emits a burst of energy in the form of solar flares.

Whilst not all flares from the sun can be harmful, the more dramatic classification of solar storms could cause a significant disturbance to modern life on Earth.

The electromagnetic wave caused by a large flare would have the ability to interrupt power grids, internet connections as well as other means of communication we rely on. Some scientists speculate that it could lead to power outages lasting multiple years. This kind of disturbance to society would, of course, lead to chaos and potential fatalities.

Solar storms have been recorded in recent years, but none have come close to the devastation caused by the infamous Carrington Event of 1859, which is the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history.

Disruptive solar activity did occur in February 2022, when a geomagnetic storm caused over $50 million worth of damage to satellites, per Space.com. However, it is assumed that Baba Vanga's foretelling of 2023's weather phenomena would rank much higher on the scale of destructive solar events.

Another astronomical vision from the mystic was that of the Earth altering its orbit.

We all learned in school that the orbit of our planet is an oval rather than a perfect circle, which causes the seasons to change throughout the year.

Due to this, any change in the way the Earth orbits the Sun would have unfathomable effects on weather.

Changes to a planet's orbit are possible but gradual, however, even the slightest change leads to large ripple effects. An orbital shift could cause heightened periods of global warming and soaring radiation levels.

Some followers of Baba Vanga theorize that the Earth could be knocked from its orbit due to the likes of an asteroid, which would of course welcome a whole other host of potentially extinction-causing problems.

Baba Vanga predicts bioweapon chaos

From space phenomena out of our control to man-made issues in the hands of few, Baba Vanga predicted a rise in the use of bioweapons, according to the Daily Star.

As we globally recover from the impact of a worldwide pandemic, biological warfare is understandably at a heightened level of fear for many.

It's unclear what biological weapons the famous clairvoyant could have been referring to, but the World Health Organisation describes bioweapons as any virus, bacteria, fungi, or toxic substance that is released deliberately to cause disease and death in humans, animals, or plants.

Baba Vanga's visions for 2023 are the definition of doom-mongering, therefore we'd like to highlight that the interpretations of the mystic's visions have often been incorrect in the past.

Her visions were famous for being cryptic and have held countless meanings over the years.

However, Baba Vanga's predictions have not always rang true, whilst destructive floods and droughts did occur in 2022 and could be considered as falling within her prophecies, not every divination became a reality.

The likes of a Siberian pandemic, an Indian famine, and an alien invasion were all on the docket according to the prophetess, all of which, as you know, did not happen.

I guess we're just going to have to wait and see...
