If there's one thing we know that can divide people on the internet, it's an optical illusion.
Whether it's a dress that nobody can decide is blue and black or white and gold, or a picture of a man who appears to be wearing heels, people love to debate what a brain-teasing snap really shows.
Case in point, this week a TikTok user going by the handle @hecticnick took to social media to share a video of an optical illusion which turned out to be pretty contentious.
The video in question shows the TikToker showing an image of a mysterious gray shape, stating: "This picture is not what you think it is."
"You’re probably seeing an ocean with the beach in front of it, right? Well, in reality, what it actually is is the bottom of a car door that’s damaged with the ground underneath it."
Take a look at the original video of the image below:As you can see for yourself by squinting closely, the picture does indeed show the bottom of a car door, and not a beach during a stormy evening.
However, even after watching the video all the way through, there were still plenty of other TikTok users who couldn't agree on what the image actually shows.

For instance, one person wrote: "I'm able to only see the ocean."

Another commenter then added: "People who saw the car first."

Meanwhile, this person was adamant that the picture showed: "[An] ocean with the beach in front of it."

Some people appeared to have problems with seeing two separate images, with one writing: "I saw the ocean first but now I see both LOL. [sic]"

This commenter stated: "I can as soon as I saw it I was like oh its an ocean then I was like wait no its a car door or something that is broken."

Another commenter then added: "I didn't see the beach until I actually was told I know it was a bumper of a car."

On the pro-car side, this person then stated: "I never saw an ocean and I still can't."

Finally, another TikTok user wrote: "I can see both but I actually see the car door more than the ocean."
The picture originally appeared on Twitter and Reddit back in 2019, but as you can clearly see, it continues to divide opinion just as much now as it did back then.
