A woman whose vagina was labelled among the “top one percent” in the world is preparing to undergo a gruelling three-month medical experiment that could potentially help more than 190 million women worldwide.
Kate Tolo, the girlfriend of controversial biohacker Bryan Johnson, is set to become what he described as “the most measured female in history” as part of a huge health tracking project focused on women’s bodies.
The Blueprint co-founder recently went viral after Johnson publicly shared details of what he called a “vaginal microbiome report”, which claimed Tolo’s body ranked in the top one percent globally.
Johnson explained on X: “Her sample is dominated by the single most protective bacterial species a vagina can host (Lactobacillus crispatus).
“Only about 25-30% of reproductive age women globally are L. crispatus-dominant, and ‘dominant’ usually means above 50%. Kate is at 98.7%.”
Tolo previously defended her boyfriend after he shared intimate details online, saying she “could not be more proud” of him, while admitting that to some people the behavior “might seem unhinged”.
The new experiment will involve Tolo spending three months mapping her body’s baseline measurements while following the exact same routine every day under constant supervision from a full-time medical team.
Her menstrual cycle will also be closely monitored throughout the process.
Johnson wrote on X: “She will become the most measured female in history.”
He continued: “To start, she will spend 3 months mapping her baseline. Men, in contrast, can get their baseline done in one or two weeks.”
According to Johnson, the scale of the testing could surpass even his own infamous anti-ageing experiments.
“For context on the extensiveness of measurement, during the past 5 years, we’ve collected 1.5 billion data points on my body. I suspect Kate will exceed that given technology has improved since I started.
"The goal is to create a repeatable waveform of hundreds of life-critical biomarkers. Once the baseline is acquired, she will begin interventions."
Although Johnson praised Tolo’s vaginal microbiome results, he revealed she suffers from “suspected endometriosis”, a condition affecting around 10 percent of reproductive-age women globally.
There is currently no known cure for endometriosis, so the pair hope their research could eventually improve treatment and symptom management for millions of women.
Johnson and Tolo are also hoping the testing could answer wider questions around women’s health, including PMS symptoms and menopause.
Johnson admitted the process would dramatically change Tolo’s lifestyle.
“In many ways, this is a sacrifice for her. She is a creative person, going from a life of freedom and spontaneity to a rigid protocol.
"It’s pretty cool to be living in a time when we may be the first generation to not die. I’m not suggesting immortality, but lifespans so long that we stop thinking about lifespans.
"At the end of the day, the one thing we each care about more than anything else is one more breath. I’m proud of Kate for taking on this responsibility. It’s painful, exhausting and costly."
Johnson has built a huge online following thanks to his bizarre attempts to slow ageing and extend his lifespan.
Some of his most talked about experiments include attempting to restore what he called his “22-year-old penis” through shockwave therapy, Botox injections, semen analysis, and blood flow testing.
He also made headlines after taking part in what he described as “the world’s first multigenerational plasma exchange” with his son and father.
He told the BBC: “I playfully say I’m trying to become like, an 18-year-old.”
The process involved removing a litre of Johnson’s blood plasma before replacing it with plasma from his teenage son. He later admitted he saw “no benefits” and stopped the treatment.
Johnson has also publicly documented his experiences taking psychedelics, including 5g of magic mushrooms and 27mg of the hallucinogenic 5-MeO-DMT, which he said left him “stunned beyond comprehension”.
The biohacker’s daily routine has become equally notorious online. Johnson previously revealed his morning schedule lasts four hours and 46 minutes and includes exercise, sauna sessions, red light therapy, skincare, supplements, and focused shockwave therapy.
