Croatian police have now confirmed the identity of a woman who was found on Krk island with no recollection of who she was and how she got there.
On September 12, the woman, who had cuts and bruises on her face, was found alone and seemingly with no place to stay. Local police told CNN that the woman spoke English but could not remember her identity.
Per ABC News, she has now been identified by police as 57-year-old Slovakian native Daniela Adamcova. Authorities were able to establish her identity after they received an influx of tips both in Croatia and internationally.
The tip revealing her full name and nationality came from the US where she is believed to have lived until 2015 before relocating to Ireland.
Adamcova drew the attention of a fisherman, who at around 10:00AM, spotted her sitting on a rock not far from the village of Soline, according to local news outlet 24Sata.
The police were informed about the situation and an emergency rescue team arrived to help the woman, who did not have any identifying documents or a phone.
A spokesperson for Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) told People in a statement at the time: "We got the call in the morning of the 12th about the person, injured, on the beach in the remote area.
"She has been there from the night before and obviously has spent the night there, according to the information we got."
They continued: "Immediately our team from Rijeka reached out and located her. She was confused and disoriented, with minor bruises and wounds. Our team administered first aid and evacuated her. With that our part was done.
"Usually we have around 1,000 missions all around Croatia and this one is not so different than any other, except the fact that we all still do not know the identity of the lady."
Adamcova has now been taken to a hospital in the town of Rijeka. She is in a "stable" condition according to police and will be tended to by the Croatian social services when she is released from the hospital.
