A police report has revealed that a Wisconsin news anchor who took her own life texted her former fiancé before she died.
According to the police report, obtained by the Daily Mail, 27-year-old WAOW anchor Neena Pacholke ended her life on August 27, having sent a chilling text to her 38-year-old ex-fiancé Kyle Haase beforehand.
Authorities disclosed that the former couple had broken up just seven weeks before they were due to wed. Before she pulled the trigger, the journalist texted Haase that she could no longer bear "this pain".
"I love you Kyle. I always have and always will," she texted him, according to the publication. "Despite how much you ruined me, I always had hope. I’m so sorry to do this to you but I can’t handle any of this pain anymore."
Hasse was visiting his mother in Minnesota with his children from a previous relationship when he received the concerning text from Pacholke.
He then called the police and requested a welfare check at the home he shared with Pacholke, but unfortunately, the officers arrived too late.
The news anchor was found dead at her home in Wausau, Wisconsin, after fatally shooting herself with a handgun she had bought that very morning.
Her mental state was known to her friends before she passed away and one concerned friend removed all firearms from her property the day before she died, fearing that Pacholke might harm herself.
Authorities found her dead at the scene, in her bedroom, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. They also discovered a receipt from Zingers and Flingers firearm store for a 9mm handgun and a box of ammunition, according to the police report.
The former pair - who met at a funeral in November 2020 when he was still married - had only bought their shared home months before her death. They'd had a troubled relationship before their eventual breakup.
In a similarly alarming text to her sister, the journalist wrote: "He [Kyle] told me he hates me and will feel like a million bucks once I am out of his life," adding that she was "broken".
Pacholke's friends alleged to the police that the two often argued and that she had become suspicious about possible infidelities when she found underwear at their home.
The couple - who had been due to marry on October 12 in Carmen, Mexico - originally planned a large wedding for next summer, but decided to bring the date forward.
Pacholke's parents wrote a special tribute to their daughter on their social media accounts. In a statement on Facebook on August 31, her father, Aaron, said: "Absolutely devastated."
"Our family is broken over the loss of our Neena. God and our faith will guide us. Amazing how many people she touched," he wrote, adding, "Thank you, Everyone for your love and support!"
Her mother, Laurie, also shared a tribute on Twitter and wrote: "We appreciate the love and support we are receiving. Please know Neena was receiving treatment for her mental health."
"She had every resource possible available to her and it still wasn’t enough. Fly high baby girl," she added.
