A woman in Australia miraculously survived on wine and lollipops after going missing for five days in the bush.

On Sunday (April 30), a 48-year-old woman named Lillian intended to go on a brief day trip by traveling through the remote bushland at Bright in Victoria’s High Country, as reported by CBS News.

Authorities say that she had been driving towards Dartmouth Dam when she struck a dead-end at the close of Yankee Point Track. After taking the wrong turn, her vehicle became stuck in the mud.

The woman had no mobile reception so she was unable to call for help. She was also incapable of working towards assistance due to her health issues, therefore she was compelled to stay in the isolated area.

Lillian went missing with nothing but "a couple of snacks", a bottle of wine, and her "common sense," but on Friday (May 5), emergency services found her walking along hilly terrain.

Footage obtained by the Victoria police revealed the moment she was located after her car was spotted at the end of a dirt road in the Mitta Mitta bushland.

As stated in the police report, extensive searches of the Mitta Mitta, Wodonga, Bright, and Albury areas were conducted after Lillian's family contacted the police after not receiving her daily check-in call.

The police Air Wing first noticed the woman from above and directed a local police van to her location where she was found "safe and well".

Wodonga Police Station sergeant Martin Torpey shared a statement about the discovery and disclosed that she was able to endure those five days due to some snacks she had thankfully stashed away in her care.

"The only liquid Lillian, who doesn’t drink, had with her was a bottle of wine she had bought as a gift for her mother so that got her through," the police said. "She was only planning a short-day trip so had only taken a couple of snacks and lollies with her but no water."

"She used great common sense to stay with her car and not wander off into bushland, which assisted in police being able to find her," the police continued. "While she couldn’t move her car, she was able to use the heater overnight give her some warmth."

"After being lost in the bush for five days, she was extremely relieved and grateful to see us and we were just as happy to see her," they added.

According to SBS News, Lillian also spoke about her terrifying five days alone in the secluded bush, stating: "I thought I was going to die out there," adding, "My whole body shut down on Friday."

She said that was convinced she wouldn't survive by the fourth day and even penned an emotional letter to her family telling them she loved them and to not cry for her.

"I'm just sitting there thinking, 'What am I going to do, how am I going to survive this?'" she heartbreakingly revealed. "I was about to give up."

Lillian was over the moon to hear the helicopter overhead the next day. She remarked that because she is an "adventure person," she will be "better prepared" next time.
