A woman in France has been slammed by parents after making a face mask using a diaper.

This comes amid the global shortage of face masks caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in the widespread panic buying of essential goods including tinned food, toilet roll, and diapers.

In the video above, which was posted to Facebook, the woman creates a face mask by cutting the bottom out of a diaper then placing it over her head, using the sticky sides of the diaper to securely attach it to her face.

But while this might seem like a novel solution, it is not a medically viable one. Per the World Health Organisation, for a mask to be effective, there have to be no gaps between a person's face and the mask.

This man was also slammed for licking supermarket products during the coronavirus pandemic:

And because there is a shortage of nappies as a result of panic buying, the woman was slammed by parents on the social media website as many children, under the current climate, may have to go without diapers.

One angry user wrote: "And this is why parents cant find diapers for there [sic] babies because of dumbass like this."

A second simply declared: "How stupid."

A third remarked: "Great... first no more stuff for wiping for adults, now no more stuff for babies... (and old people)."

Meanwhile, when one user suggested that her friend make some masks, she was rightfully told that it's irresponsible to make them using diapers.

Her friend replied: "That's irresponsible when you can't get hold of nappies."

This news comes as John Hopkins University reports that there have been a total of 428,405 confirmed cases of COVID-19 globally and 19,120 deaths, at the time of writing.

It also comes after a mom went viral after filming herself crying on TikTok when she discovered there were no diapers left.
