A woman has sparked a heated debate online after she expressed her outrage at being asked to tip an airport employee.
Posting to TikTok, Addysen who goes by the username @addydrake98, claimed that the person checking in her bags asked her for a tip via cash or card, leaving her speechless.
"Tell me why I get to the airport after paying $400 for a flight and I'm going to pay for my $35 checked bag [and] the guy says to me: 'Okay you have to pay in credit card but you can tip in cash,'" she explained, before going on to state that the worker was "rude".
Amid her confusion, she continued: "What? And keep in mind he was a total f****** douchebag to me, like he was so rude to me," she said. "What am I tipping that man for? What do I pay all this money for?"
Watch the video below:Despite the 24-year-old's story, according to USA Today, it's pretty normal to tip curb-side airport workers but it seems as though not everyone agrees...
"Nah cuz I’m done. Unless it’s a sit-down restaurant where someone actually served me throughout my meal, or I’m getting food delivered, I am not tipping for anything else anymore. Gotta put our foot down," said one TikTok user.
"I can hear the argument now 'if you can’t afford a tip you can’t afford to fly'", added another.
"Literally EVERYONE wants a tip now it's crazy!", added a third.
"We have to do something about this everyone," urged another user, while someone else questioned why they would expect a tip for a simple task: "It was check the bags?? What is the service they are providing? Taking the bag off the scale and putting it on the conveyor belt??"

However, others argued the opposite.
"The outside baggage you tip because they take care of your bags for you. Otherwise you can go inside and do it yourself. Takes about half hour longer," responded one user.
"Yeah a lot of curbside people who handle the luggages only get paid in tips, similar to wait staff," another agreed.
"If it's on the curb you always tip. Like excuse me???? Go wait inside if you don't want to tip!!!!"
"If you use airport outside bag handlers you tip! Or take your bags inside and wait in line at the ticket counter."

Some even recalled their own experiences of tipping nightmares.
"I went to McDonald drive thru… they ask for a tip? What?"
"A couple months ago I was asked if I wanted to tip the staff when I made an ONLINE ORDER for some nose rings. I’m SORRY??? Tipping on a website? Bye," recalled someone else.
"I honestly don't know who I'm supposed to tip anymore. I won $100 on a scratch off and the clerk asked for a tip after I cashed it. I was SO confused," commented another.

A lot of people also pointed out the reasons why people expect tips, looking towards unfair wages given by companies.
"So the company's don't have to pay a fair wages. I assume?" (sic), wrote one.
"It's sad," pointed out another. "Everyone expects a tip now because their company doesn’t pay them right. They’re mad at the wrong ppl."
Who do you think is right in this situation?
