The Israeli prime minister has just revealed that he underwent treatment for prostate cancer in 2024.
Benjamin Netanyahu, 76, said that an early-stage malignant tumour had been discovered during a routine check-up nearly two years ago.
He claims that “targeted treatment” had removed “the problem” and there was no trace of cancer left.
The release of his annual medical record has been delayed until now to avoid his health concerns being shared at the height of conflict with Iran and the neighbouring countries.
Allegedly, he chose not to release the record to prevent Iran from spreading “false propaganda against Israel.”
As the ceasefire has been extended once more, Netanyahu announced his past health issue and assured people he has recovered from treatment and is “in excellent condition”.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the annual health report, dated April 20, 2026, states that Netanyahu first underwent surgery on 29 December 2024, to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The operation, which took place at the Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, was reported to be a success, but a routine follow-up revealed a suspicious lesion in the prostate, which tests later showed was early-stage prostate cancer.
Radiation therapy director, Professor Aharon Popovzer, said they had found a 0.9-centimeter mass, found to be a prostatic adenocarcinoma.
Also, according to Popovzer the prime minister underwent a “specialised kidney treatment ... two and a half months ago”.
The report confirms that the treatment was “fully successful” and, according to imaging, the lesion has completely disappeared.
Addressing the often deadly disease in a statement on social media, he said he had been advised that he could undergo treatment to “remove the problem”, or live with it.
Netanyahu declared: “You already know me. When I'm given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately.
“This is true on the national level and also on the personal level. That's what I did.”
This news comes shortly after rumours circulated online that the leader had died last month, amid fighting with Iran and continuing to bomb Palestine.
To quash the lies, he recorded a video of himself visiting a cafe in Jerusalem in March.
