Ex-husband of model Abby Choi arrested after her legs were found in a fridge

Hong Kong police have confirmed that arrests have been made in connection with the death of model and influencer Abby Choi.

As reported by CNN, the 28-year-old model was reported missing on Wednesday (February 22), with her dismembered remains later being discovered in a rental unit in the Tai Po district on Friday.

Pieces of her body were found next to an electric saw, meat slicer, and some clothing. Sky News reports that her legs were found stuffed inside of a fridge. Her ID and credit cards were also found in the unit.

Disturbingly, police have been unable to locate the model's head, torso, or hands.

Superintendent Alan Chung said at the time: "Police have found that the flat was arranged by cold-blooded killers meticulously.

"Tools that are used to dismember human bodies were found in the flat, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves, and masks."

Local media reports that the apartment is located in the Lung Mei Village in Tai Po, and was being rented by her ex-husband's father.

Choi was a popular model and influencer on social media, boasting over 80,000 followers at the time of her death. She has also modeled for various magazines and is often pictured mingling with celebrities. She had appeared for Vogue China and graced the front cover of the latest edition of L'Officiel Monaco magazine.

On Saturday, Superintendent Chung confirmed that arrests have been made in-connection with the Choi's death - including that of her ex-husband.

Chung told members of the press that the ex-husband was arrested on a pier in Tung Chung - one of the city's outlying islands. It is believed that he was attempting to "abscond" and flee via water-based transport.

Others arrested in the case include the ex-husband's brother and parents - who were all arrested on Friday.

They remain in custody and are being questioned why authorities attempt to locate Choi's missing body parts.

As part of the search, CNN reports that over 100 police personnel were dispatched to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery on Saturday. A diving team also searched nearby catchwater.

Choi's ex-husband and his arrested family members are facing murder charges, police have stated.

Superintendent Chung says that Choi was facing financial disputes involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars, per Sky News, with her ex-husband's family and others reportedly unhappy with how she handled her finances.

Per The Sun, the model was a mother to a son and a daughter. They have since been put in the care of her mother.

Since the model's death was announced, her social media posts have been flooded with tributes from fans. "
