Residents in Brazil have also recently been flocking to see an image of 'Christ' found in a tree:Per CNN, the Brazillian wonder - which stands at 125ft tall atop the Corcovado mountain - was also illuminated with the flags of several countries affected by the outbreak.
Rio de Janeiro's archbishop, Dom Orani Tempesta, also performed a mass at the base of the statue during the projection tribute, in which he celebrated medical workers.
This is the second time the world-famous tourist attraction has been bathed in light in response to the global pandemic.
Last month, a composite of various countries' flags were displayed on the statue, recognizing some of the worst-hit nations affected by the novel coronavirus.

Current figures from the John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center state that Brazil has recorded 22,318 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and a death toll of 1,230.
Despite these numbers, CNN reports that the country's populist leader, President Jair Bolsonaro, is continuing to play down the severity of the disease.
In recent weeks, Bolsonaro has continued to push back on social-distancing policies, dismissing the novel coronavirus as a "little flu" and saying Brazil will suffer more if the economy collapses.
Despite this, Bolsonaro has still undergone two tests for the disease, but has said both tests returned with a negative result.
