Donald Trump reveals exactly what 'significant gift' sent to USA by Iran was
Donald Trump has revealed exactly what the ‘very significant’ present that he claimed to have received from Iran was as peace talks continue.
If you think about it hard enough, you can probably guess what it was.
Donald Trump’s war in Iran doesn’t seem to be slowing down
The war in Iran has been raging for a few weeks now, ever since Trump started Operation Epic Fury and started attacking the Middle East with air strikes alongside Israel.
In the weeks that have followed, Trump himself has made threats, his team - particularly Karoline Leavitt and Pete Hegseth - have turned up the rhetoric, and Iran has responded in kind with threats and ultimatums.
Only recently have the talks tentatively turned to peace.
However, despite conflicting reports on how well those talks have been going, Trump did capture everyone’s attention when he claimed to have received a ‘very significant’ gift from his Iranian counterparts.
At the time, he declined to say what it actually was, but - as we know with Trump - we were always going to find out at some stage.
Donald Trump reveals what the ‘very significant’ gift from Iran was
Trump claimed that the gift he’d received was a sign that those in Tehran were actually serious about talks of peace, rather than just stringing him along.
He wants to ensure that US boats have safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is absolutely vital to global oil supplies.
That gives you a basic idea of what the nature of this present is.
In a cabinet meeting, and after asking Steve Witkoff - special envoy to the Middle East - for permission to disclose, he revealed: "They said, ‘To show you the fact that we’re real and solid, we’re going to let you have eight big boats of oil,
"And then I watched the news… and they said there are eight boats that are going right up the middle of the Hormuz Strait.”
Trump then said he believes that the tankers with ‘his’ oil are Pakistan-flagged vessels.
So far, it’s not clear whether he’s telling the truth or not - no reporting has mentioned eight tankers and none that have passed since Sunday were under the flag of Pakistan.
Trump then said that Iran wanted to cut a deal because ‘they have just been beat to s***’ and when asked about whether he wants to control Iranian oil, he added: “It’s an option, but I wouldn’t talk about it.”
It remains to be seen whether this ‘gift’ is actually real, and - if so - if it will materially help the effort to bring much-needed peace to the region.
