Hiker celebrating end of lockdown falls 115ft to her death while posing for photo

A woman celebrating the end of Turkey's coronavirus lockdown measures has died after falling 11o feet as she posed for a cliffside photograph.

Per Fox News, 31-year-old Olesia Suspitsina from Kazakhstan had decided to take a hike with a female friend around Duden Park, located in the tourist city of Antalya, Turkey. The pair were celebrating the end of the coronavirus lockdown that had been in place for weeks in the city.

According to the Daily Mail, Duden Park is known for its scenic waterfalls. Suspitsina reportedly climbed over a safety fence in the park in order to pose for a photograph on the edge of a cliff.

Sadly, however, Suspitsina slipped on some grass and plummeted roughly 115 feet (35 meter) to her death, local media reports.

Her friend - who has not been named - then called emergency services.

The Daily Mail reports that Olesya's body was located and recovered out of the water by local rescuers. Fox News states that her body was taken to the morgue of Antalya Forensic Medicine Institue for an autopsy.

After investigating the case, Turkish police concluded it was the 31-year-old's death was an accident.

A grieving relative by the name of Yury told Kazakh media: "Olesya was a smart and cheerful person. She set goals and made them happen."

Suspitsina had worked as a tour guide in the city for the last five years. Per The Mail, Olesia wrote alongside a post on Instagram: "I will always admire the beauty of the Turkish nature. This is my paradise."

Per The Mail, close friend Olga Kravchuk wrote on social media: "Olesya always loved the sea and dreamed of living in Turkey. She made her dream come true. More than anything she loved the feeling of freedom.

"This is an irreparable loss. My heart is broken."

According to reports, Olesya's body will be transported from Turkey to Kazakhstan today (Saturday, May 2). She will be buried in her native city of Kostanay.
