Iran has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump over the death of a top Iranian general who was killed in a drone strike in Baghdad, the Independent has reported.
Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said on Monday that Trump is one of 30+ individuals accused of being involved in the January 3 attack, which resulted in the death of General Qassem Soleimani, the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Monday.

General Qassem Soleimani was the leader of the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force.
Those accused face "murder and terrorism charges".
Trump issues a statement on the death of Soleimani:Following Soleimani's death, Trump said at a press conference:
"Last night, at my direction, the United States military successfully executed a flawless precision strike that killed the number-one terrorist anywhere in the world, Qasem Soleimani.
Soleimani was plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel, but we caught him in the act and terminated him."
Iran has also asked Interpol for help in detaining the US President, and requested a "red notice" - the highest level that can be issued.
The Independent states that there is "little chance" Interpol or any other law enforcement agency will act on the warrant.
Per the Metro, Alqasimehr said on Monday:
"Thirty-six individuals who have been involved or ordered the assassination of Hajj Qassem, including the political and military officials of the US and other governments, have been identified and arrest warrants have been issued for them by the judiciary officials and red alerts have also been issued for them via the Interpol."
Back in January, Trump spoke at a campaign rally in Toledo, Ohio, where he accused Suleimani of organizing violent protests by Iran-backed milatias at the US embassy in Baghdad.

"Suleimani was actively planning new attacks and he was looking very seriously at our embassies, and not just the embassy in Baghdad, but we stopped him and we stopped him quickly and we stopped him cold," Trump said at the rally.
Trump added that the "United States once again took the bold and decisive action to save American lives and deliver American justice."
