On Wednesday, November 21st, a group of robbers broke into Ashok Jewellers in Ontario, Canada.

The four assailants, armed with a hammer and a gun, had clearly hoped to be in and out of the store with as much as they could carry in no time at all, as they staged their attack in broad daylight. Unfortunately for them, however, the store workers had other plans.

In an amazing feat caught on CCTV, three employees rushed to defend the shop, wielding large swords in order to prevent the assailants from entering through a window they'd broken.

Video footage of the attack shows a masked man smashing one of the windows on the front of the store. He starts to climb through, brandishing what appears to be a mallet. Before he can cross the threshold, however, he is forced back out by staff members with swords.

A second man then attempts to enter, a gun in one hand, but is also warded off before he can actually get through the window. According to one of the victims, the assailant actually tried to fire at them, but the weapon jammed.

You can see CCTV footage of the incident here:

And here's the view from the outside of the shop:

"When we saw them coming in, that's when we really took action and we rushed them," said Arjun Kumar, the son of the store's owner.

"They had a gun but my main concern was I wanted them to not get into my store. I was willing to do anything to keep them out. Even if it meant me getting shot, not a problem."

As of yet, the suspects have not been identified, but police have released details of the attackers with hopes that someone might come forward with information.

Two of the assailants, males between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall, were wearing blue jumpsuits with reflective panels. The gun-wielding man is estimated to be between 5ft 9in and 5ft 11in with a heavy build. The fourth member of the group is described as having a slim build, and was wearing black pants, white gloves and a black winter jacket with fur lining in the hood.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt during the attack, but it is of the utmost importance that these men are apprehended before they have the chance to break into another store and put more lives in danger.
