A 27-year-old man was accidentally shot dead at a 'Peaky Blinders-themed' party after a guest brought a gun as a fancy dress prop.
Thomas Bernabé attended the party on New Year's Eve in Monbazillac in Dordogne, southern France, where he was accidentally shot in the chest, the Daily Mail reports.
The emergency services were called at approximately 9:30PM, and despite doing their best to revive Bernabé, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Petitebleu.fr reports that the party, which was held at a remote house in Monbazillac in Dordogne, had around 20 guests, who were all dressed up as characters from the popular show.
While other guests were outside smoking, Bernabé was shot inside a garage.
The man who fired the shot has now been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and is facing up to five years behind bars.
Local media reports that the gun belonged to the man's father.
Per the Daily Mail, Bergerac prosecutor Odile de Fritsch told AFP: "About 20 people born between 1991 and 1993, all former high school friends, gathered Thursday in an isolated house for a fancy dress party inspired by this British television series, which features gangsters in three-piece costumes and caps.

Police said that other guests also brought guns to the party.
According to reports, the man who brought the rifle to the party believed it to be unloaded as it was dirty and said not to have been used for a long time.
A fan of motorbikes, Bernabé volunteered at the Agen Supercross team, and they paid tribute to him on social media, writing: "He was a brilliant smart boy. We worked together preparing the Supercross at Walibi, like Estillac and Armandie Stadium in Agen.
"He was a fervent, dedicated Supercross volunteer, always gave the best for the event's success."
He added: "Thomas was brilliant, handsome, kind. Life is unfair sometimes.
"For us old people, Thomas was also our child. To the youngest, he was a friend and even a brother.
"Thank you, Thomas, for the interest and happiness you brought to us."
