More than 330,000 people around the world have recovered from coronavirus

For many people around the world, life has changed markedly in the space of just a few short weeks.

Not so long ago, we were travelling to work, meeting friends in bars and restaurants and watching our favorite sports teams compete on television or in stadiums.

Now, we are self-isolating and staying indoors to protect our health services and save lives.

Naturally, news headlines are dominated by stories of the battle with the coronavirus at present time, and many of us keep abreast with the daily statistics on infection rates and, sadly, deaths.

Per the John Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, at the time of writing, there have been 1,487,870 total confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 88,630 total deaths.

The total number of people who have recovered from the virus currently stands at 331,705. The data shows that the most recoveries have occurred in China, where the outbreak began: 77,649 people are reported to have recovered. There have thus far been 24,125 recoveries in the United States.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has attacked the World Health Organization over the global coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday, the President said that his administration would take a "good look" at its contributions to the WHO.

"They called it wrong," he said, per the BBC, "They really, they missed the call. Fortunately, I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?"

A UN spokesperson later rejected Trump's criticisms, stating that WHO's Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had "done tremendous work" as it pertained to giving guidance as coronavirus travelled around the globe.
