Donald Trump’s mysterious ‘Doomsday Plane’ has been spotted flying across the USA as tensions around the world continue to escalate.
It is not clear why the plane is on the move, but this rare sighting has sparked interest that goes way beyond the aviation enthusiasts.
Donald Trump’s ‘Doomsday Plane’ has only ever been used once before
The plane itself is a Boeing that is known as the E-4B Nightwatch and is based on the 747.
It provides a flying command center for the US President and members of the government and military during times of extreme danger and global trouble.
It has only been called into action once before, on September 11th 2001 after the attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York.
Operated by the US Air Force, this vehicle is one of the most secretive and important cogs in the US military machine, serving as the National Airborne Operations Center, to be used in only the most significant of emergencies.
It is protected from electromagnetic pulses and has advanced communication and situation rooms on board, meaning that it can essentially run the US emergency response from the air.
It can reportedly remain airborne for several days and is capable of mid-air refuelling.
There are four E-4B planes, and at any given moment one is on standby.
This one, it has since been claimed, was carrying US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
Why was this plane on the move?
It is not immediately clear why the plane was flying over Los Angeles, or why Hegseth would have been using this particular airplane, but it has certainly sparked interest.
This aircraft is symbolic, and so rarely spotted that when it is seen, people want to know why.
As one X user asked: “Why now?
Another said: “What is the reason for this flight?”
It has been rumored that the plane was traveling to an airfield outside Washington DC, sparking concerns about rising global tensions.
Trump is currently involved in military action in Venezuela, having captured the President Nicolás Maduro, as well as an ongoing desire to claim Greenland from Denmark, and constant sabre-rattling with China and Russia.
One person joked: “Why are we going into WW3 again?”
Another said: “Maybe it’s just going for a test drive.”
Let’s hope so.
