Shane Warne's son Jackson has shared a rare, heartbreaking glimpse of one of his final video calls with his legendary father, who died from a heart attack four years ago, aged just 52.
The Australian cricket icon would have turned 57 on Sunday, and to commemorate the occasion, his 27-year-old son posted a previously unseen FaceTime clip showing Warne chatting to him while away in Scotland.
At the time, Warne was in Scotland taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Golf Championship and found himself battling the country's chilly conditions.
“This is me rugged up. I've got a beanie. I've got about four different layers on. I've got a little snood that keeps my neck and that warm,” he told Jackson.
The former cricketer then showed just how many layers he was wearing to cope with the cold. “I've got a vest, a jumper, and a thermal underneath there as well, to stay warm, because as I said it's four degrees,” he continued.
Warne, who became a keen golfer after retiring from international cricket, also admitted that he was feeling nervous about competing in the tournament.
Despite that, his thoughts quickly turned towards his children and the prospect of seeing them again. “I'm back on the 14th. I think I got six sleeps until I see you guys. Yay!”, he exclaimed.
He then ended the FaceTime message with a heartfelt message for his son: “I hope you had a good day and I'm missing and loving you lots. Let's do this.”
Jackson shared the touching clip alongside a short but emotional caption: “Missing these updates, happy birthday Dad.”
Jackson's sister Brooke also paid tribute to their father on what would have been his birthday. Responding to Jackson's post, she wrote: “These updates were the best, miss them so much.”
The 29-year-old also shared a previously unseen childhood photograph of herself with Warne on her Instagram Story.
“Today will always be your day. Happy birthday dada,” she captioned the picture.
Brooke has previously spoken about feeling her father's presence during some of the biggest moments of her life.
In July, she revealed that she believed Warne had been with her in spirit when she became engaged to her long-term partner Alex Heath. After sharing footage from the engagement, Brooke pointed towards a rainbow in the background and wrote:
“When your angels show you their love for your engagement, the only way they know how. The sky looks different when you have angels up there.”
She added: “Forever with you Alex, and our angels forever with us.”
