Sky News has released the moment one of its news teams was ambushed by gunmen while traveling near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.
In the terrifying footage, chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay and four of his team members could be seen traveling in a vehicle while attempting to visit the town of Bucha, near Kyiv.
However, Ramsay has now stated that his team was attacked by what he claims to be a "saboteur Russian reconnaissance squad".
While making their way through the deserted streets, Ramsay writes: "And then out of nowhere a small explosion and I saw something hit the car and a tire burst. We rolled to a stop."
The footage below shows the moment gunfire was unleashed on the team:In the chaotic footage, the windscreen of the car can be seen shattering, as the team shouts out that they are journalists, in an attempt to get the gunfire to stop.
The heart-pounding moment was captured by cameraman Richie Mockler.
In his recount of the attack, Ramsay says that he was shot in the back and wounded, and that Mockler "took two rounds to his body armor".
The team was reportedly able to escape down an embankment, and has since been transported safely back to the UK.
Ramsay stated in his reported: "We didn't know it at the time, but we were later told by the Ukrainians that we were being ambushed by a saboteur Russian reconnaissance squad. It was professional, the rounds kept smashing into the car - they didn't miss."
Along with Ramsay and Mockler, the team consisted of producers Andrii Lytvynenko, Martin Vowles, and Dominique Van Heerden.
The team then took cover in a warehouse, where Ramsay says three caretakers took them into their workshop. Once inside, the team made calls to fellow Sky staff members. "Outside, the sounds of the battle intensified," he writes.
The next day, Ramsay says he and the team were safely evacuated by Ukrainian police officers.
