At least two people have been killed and dozens more injured after a theme park ride broke in India.

The incident, which occurred at Kankaria Adventure Park in Ahmedabad yesterday, reportedly resulted in the Discovery pendulum ride crashing to the ground while at full capacity.

The main shaft of the ride is said to have broken as it began to gain speed and height, pulling everyone on board to the ground along with the mechanism. Footage which has emerged since the tragic accident shows people screaming while others rush to assist the injured.

As reported by RT, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation commissioner, Vijay Nehra stated "The AMC fire department conducted swift disaster response operations. The heads of departments of paediatrics, ortho and surgery reported to the hospital and the injured are being treated."

Per CNN-News18, at least two people have been confirmed dead as a result of the injuries they sustained, while 26 others are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
