An Australian weatherman pulled a body from the ocean during a shocking live broadcast.

Luke Bradnam, an anchor for Australia’s Channel Nine, was reporting on the treacherous weather conditions at Narrowneck beach in Queensland when he received word that there was a person struggling in the ocean.

He is now being hailed a hero after taking off his clothes without a second thought for himself and jumping into the ocean to help the stricken individual, not realizing that it was, sadly, a body recovery.

"Just after I got off air chatting with you guys, a boogie boarder just behind here at Narrowneck alerted me that he thought he saw someone again out in the surf," a wet and shirtless Bradnam told his fellow anchors after the incident.

"I immediately stripped off and raced out with the boogie boarder to help the person in trouble," Bradnam said.

The man who Bradnam ran to rescue, unfortunately, did not survive.

"When we got closer it became pretty evident that there was a body floating in the water and the two of us were able to secure the body and make our way…back into shore," the weatherman told viewers.

According to News.com.au, the body recovered was that of 32-year-old British national Jake Jacobs who moved to the Gold Coast from the UK and was reported missing on Thursday (February 4).

The Mirror reported that a search and rescue mission was launched on Thursday after the body of Jacobs' swimming partner was discovered, with police speculating that the pair had gone for a nude swim.

Bradnam said that the situation was "pretty harrowing."

As per the New York Post, the reporter told 9News.com.au that he hopes to "never experience that again".

"In the heat of the moment, I thought this is someone's son, it's going to bring some closure - we've just got to do it," Bradnam, who dove in the waters despite having an injured shoulder, said.

Jacobs' partner was identified by the Sun as Julia Boiko, 29, whose body was found an hour after they went for their swim washed up onto the shore.
