For those of us normal folk who aren't particularly invested on politics, you can swim on by happily; paying little attention to mass media, and remaining oblivious to real change, (financial or otherwise) until it slaps you in the face with something like bedroom tax, or a political manoeuvre that you find distinctly distasteful. Others, however, have their actions bound by foreign relations, and the current socio-political environment.
This is the situation that
Prince Harry and
Meghan Markle have found themselves in. The happy couple have purportedly been warned against inviting
Barack Obama, and his family to their upcoming nuptials.
After joining BBC Radio 4's Today programme as guest editor, and choosing to interview Barack Obama, Prince Harry has allegedly been "warned" not to invite the former US President to his wedding to
Meghan Markle.
The radio station's flagship news show featured an interview by the prince with Barack Obama, who shared memories of the day he left office, and his ambitions for post-Presidential life. When asked about being the interviewer rather than the interviewee, Prince Harry displayed just how much his relationship with the former US President meant to him. He said, "I haven't done that many interviews but it was quite fun, especially interviewing president Obama despite the fact he wanted to interview me... it's been a big learning curve but also these are incredibly important topics we all need to think about and need to be discussed."
Kensington Palace even tweeted about the interview, saying "HRH interviewed former US President @BarackObama in Toronto about their shared interest in building platforms for the next generation of young leaders. Tune in now to hear @BarackOabama talk about his memories of the day he left office and his hopes for post-presidential life."

It makes sense, then, that Harry has reportedly informed aides that he would like for the Obamas to be invited to his impending nuptials. However, the "special relationship" between the two, has got some civil servants fearing a "diplomatic issue" if the Obama family is invited to the wedding - which is due to take place on May 19th of next year.
This is because the current President of the United States,
Donald Trump, is unlikely to be invited, leading to "fears he would not respond well if the Obamas were asked to come". And given Trump's inclination for lashing out about the pettiest of matters on his Twitter account, it's clear that diplomats have reason to be anxious.

The news comes amidst increasing tensions between the UK and the US, after British Prime Minister, Theresa May, was forced to issue a public criticism of Trump after he retweeted three videos made by far-right organisation, Britain First.
May asserted that promoting the messages was "the wrong thing to do", saying that Britain First was "a hateful organisation" that "seeks to spread division and mistrust in our communities".
In any case, it's hard not to emphasise with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are undoubtedly having many facets of their wedding controlled by external factors. I mean, your wedding day is supposed to be about you after all, but this is clearly not the case if you're a royal.
