When it comes to choosing the most iconic female singer of the 21st century, there are a few obvious names that come to mind.

The 29-year-old Barbadian singer shot to fame back in 2005 with Pon de Replay, and secured her place at the top in the following year with SOS. However, Ri Ri arguably won most of our hearts in 2007 - when she was just 19 years of age - after she released Umbrella (which, let's be real, is still one of the greatest songs of all time).

In this Instagram post from last night, the singer can be seen sporting a particularly vibrant jacket, a low-key tee and jeans combo, and - wait for it -
a ring
. Not just any ring, though, but a fair-sized rock.
Rihanna has been in a relationship with
Hassan Jameel, a Saudi Arabian billionaire, for some time now, so the possibility of her taking things to the next level is not completely insane. And, though nothing has been confirmed yet, the internet are
itching to know whether it's true or not.

However, the good folks of Twitter do have a tendency to take things out of context sometimes. There could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for Ri Ri's extra bit of bling, such as, you know, it fit that finger best, or - now here's a wild idea - maybe she just felt like wearing it that way.
A number of people have been commenting "congratulations" on the star's Instagram post, too, but she has not confirmed or denied anything yet.
According to one fan, however, Rihanna quite frequently wears rings on that finger.

With that being said, it does seem slightly out of character for Rihanna to keep her relationship so tightly under wraps. In the past, she has famously dated the likes of Chris Brown, Drake, and
Dodgers
baseball player, Matt Kemp. And, while she has been spotted in public with
Hassan Jameel before, not much is really known about their situation.
Of course, Rihanna has every right to her own privacy - but with so many fans watching her every move on social media, it's difficult to avoid drawing their attention.
As for Hassan, the heir to one of the largest businesses in the world has actually been married once before, so it's understandable that he would want to keep this relationship close to his chest until anything really serious happened.
Whether the pair are planning on marriage or not, however, friends close to the star have said that she has something pretty special with Hassan.
"Rihanna has told friends she’s in love with him and seems completely smitten," said one source. "They’ve been spending a lot of time together away from prying eyes and are really serious. They’re really enjoying each others’ company."
I guess only time will tell if the rumors are true.
