As social media has become the best way to market yourself and communicate with people, pretty much every celebrity these days uses the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and even Snapchat to promote themselves. Most of the time it's fairly standard fare, with statements made that sound like they could easily be have been written by an assistant rather than having that personal touch.
There are, however, some celebrities who put a lot of effort into their online personas, entertaining their followers with content rather than just telling them about what future projects they should look for. People like
Chrissy Teigen are always going viral with hilarious tweets and strange experiences she has gotten into, with the occasional cameo by her husband
John Legend.

But the celebrity that reigns supreme when it comes to this kind of viral content is definitely
Ryan Reynolds. There have been plenty of times when he and his wife, actress
Blake Lively, have
trolled each other on the internet, to their delight of their fans. He's also had his moments
mocking the Kardashians, commenting on
big moves in the film industry or joking about
more serious personal issues.
Now he's taken his trademark sense of humour to the internet once again, this time with a direct message to ex-One Directioner
Zayn Malik. In a personalised video message for him, he congratulated the pop star on his birthday. Not only that, but he did it in full gear as the 'merc' with a mouth' himself, Deadpool.

Dressed up as the costumed violent anti-hero, he recounts an encounter where he jumped out of a birthday cake only to get tased by his security. The video begins with him saying: "Zayn! It’s Wade. Don’t hang up! I just wanna wish you a very happy birthday. Again. Uh, I also want to apologise for jumping out of the cake like that," before launching into his story.
Zayn then posted the video on his Instagram account, which you can watch below:

"I didn’t realise it was the middle of the night, I had no idea it was in the middle of your bedroom."
"I wanna thank your security… who were very, very gentle… and creative with uh, the taser."
"So, anyway. Happy birthday to you and Mr. Tim Horton. You share your birthday with a very special Canadian who is very near and dear to my heart."
This isn't even the first time that the actor has reached out with a member of One Direction before. When Louis Tomlinson's kid was born Ryan said: "He’s going to be fine. I don’t know him personally, but I’m sure he’s going to make a wonderful dad. Actually, I’m not sure of that because I don’t know him."
Deadpool's as-of-yet untitled sequel is going to be hitting cinemas on May 18, but it seems like being a movie star hasn't distracted him from what's really important: doing weird and funny things on the internet.
