Samsung has announced that it is launching new eco-friendly packaging that will allow its customers to upcycle their TV boxes into useful furniture - such as TV stands, nightstands, and even cat homes.

Introducing their Eco Package on their Samsung TV Instagram account, the South Korean tech giants wrote:

"We are proud to officially launch the new #EcoPackage for #TheSerif, #TheFrame, and #TheSero!

"The corrugated cardboard box used to protect your new TVs now sport a dot matrix across its surface, designed to help you cleverly upcycle.

"Wondering how it works? Keep your eyes peeled for more details to come."

The new initiative has been introduced in an effort to "reduce the environmental footprint" on Samsung's Lifestyle TV products.

Writing on social media, Samsung teased: "What if you could get a TV & receive another furniture piece for free?

"You can with the new Eco-Package. Discover fun upcycling ideas with the QR code on the box. Then, use the dot matrix to craft a table, a pet house, and more."

On their official website, Samsung also detailed the "simple" instructions on how customers could reduce their waste and create something useful for their home out of something that would so often be thrown in the trash.

"Simply scan the QR code on the box to launch a Samsung microsite, and choose the project you'd like to create," Samsung explained.

They add: "The key lies in the dot pattern printed across the cardboard surface. Simply follow the instructions and build something incredible."

The ingenious designs will be applied to Samsung's The Serif, The Frame and The Sero products.

Per a post on the Samsung website, the tech giants explain: "Samsung has applied a dot matrix design on each side of its eco-friendly corrugated cardboard boxes, allowing customers to cut the boxes more easily and assemble them into various other uses, such as small end tables or houses for pets.

"Included within the packaging is a manual to guide customers on how to make household items out of the cardboard boxes, which can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the box.

"Owners of The Serif who tend to put shelves and furniture around the TV can build cat houses, magazine racks and even shelves from the cardboard boxes to store household items and electronic devices, including the remote control."

Once assembled users can simply paint their new eco-friendly furniture to match their living rooms.
