Thanks to high-definition screens, technological breakthroughs, and modern-day art forever pushing the boundaries, you'd probably assume that you've seen every color that could possibly exist.

However, despite our high-tech TVs and monitors being able to produce nearly every color of the rainbow - and every shade and hue in between - it turns out that there may be some colors in our world that we've actually never had the pleasure of experiencing.

Now, a funky optical illusion is here to help you see a color that has, most likely, evaded you your entire life; "true cyan".

Trust me, I actually tried the optical illusion prior to writing this article, and the results are pretty cool.

Check out the optical illusion in the video below:

"True cyan" is a dazzling green-blue pigment that social media user Kate Bacon - who boasts a degree in integrative physiology - claims most of us have "probably never seen before".

In a vide that has now gained more than 23 million views, she explains: "It’s called true cyan, and most TVs and monitors aren’t capable of producing this pigment."

The optical illusion involves viewers staring at a red circle with a white dot in the middle, set against a mundane blue background.

After staring at the white dot for at least 30 seconds (although, the longer the better). Viewers are then instructed to shut their eyes tightly, where they will be able to see a "glowing orb" that is the color of true cyan.

Now, Bacon's TikTok demonstration is okay - but there is actually a two-minute YouTube video that works much better (just be sure to view it in full screen and follow the instructions carefully).

And as you can see from her comments section, people adored the gleaming color they saw staring back at them, with one person writing: "Wow that’s a pretty color."

A second added: "Honestly so crazy I loved that it honestly made my day."

I believe TikTok user Karli Haws hit the nail on the head when they commented: "Just fell in love with this color it's my happy place".

I'm honestly so disappointed I can't paint every single wall of my house this color.
