Shocking website reveals everything that Google knows about you including your entire search history and activity
A little-known Google page has left many users shaken after it revealed just how much personal data is being stored.
The website was highlighted by X user Hasan Toor, who warned that the app "has a recording of every search you've ever made," along with a detailed log of user activity stretching back years.
"Every place you've ever been. Every YouTube video you've ever watched," the AI & Tech Educator said, sharing the link. "You'll find searches from 2015. Voice recordings. GPS coordinates. All stored. All linked to your name."
How To See What Google Knows About You
You can access your data by going to Google’s My Activity hub and signing in.
Once logged in, a dashboard appears showing different settings, which may include Web & App Activity, timeline, and YouTube History.
If you scroll further down, you can explore your search history in detail. By using the "Search your activity" bar and selecting "Filter by date," users can narrow results specifically to Google Search.
After applying the filter, a full list of searches appears in reverse chronological order, making it possible to scroll back through years of activity or look up specific past searches.
From here, you can delete individual entries, however, removing data this way can be time-consuming and incomplete.
Social Media Users Share Their Reactions To This 'Eye-Opening' Discovery
The website, which was launched in June 2016, sparked strong reactions online. Many people were surprised by the volume of data stored.
"This is shocking," one user wrote, while another said: "Damn, this is eye-opening." A third remarked: "Google is spying on you every second of the day."
In a follow-up post, Toor claimed the data holds significant value. "Our date 'is worth approximately $460 per year,'" he said, adding that this is how much Google "earns per American user from advertising, based on Alphabet's 2024 financials".
"4+ billion users. $264 billion in ad revenue. All powered by everything you just read," he said. "You are not the customer. You are the product."
Can you stop Google From Tracking Your Searches?
According to a report, users do have the option to limit or stop this tracking altogether.
By returning to the My Activity homepage and selecting "Web & App Activity," you can access Activity Controls and choose to switch tracking off. From there, two options are available: "Turn off" or "Turn off and delete activity."
"If you selected Turn off, you’re done. Google will no longer save your Google Searches as part of your overall Google profile activity. This option means that Google still has your prior searches recorded, though. So, if you want, you can choose the second option, Turn off and delete activity," the report said.
"When you select that option, Google will walk you through additional steps to choose what types of data you want erased, such as past activity tied to Google Search, Maps, Ads, Image Search, Google Play Store, Help and other services.
"All of these options reveal just how many products and pipelines Google has built to vacuum up your data," they added.
