I can't say that I've been immune to them. When I was a kid, I rocked the "mushroom cut" or "bowl cut" (because it looks like someone put a bowl on your head and shaved the rest of your hair off). I don't think that's not going to come back anytime soon. And you know what else you don't see anymore? The mullet.
Ah, the mullet: It's business up front, and a party in the back. It was popular for a while in the 80's and 90's, with Patrick Swayze, Billie Ray Cyrus and Michael Bolton sporting some pretty epic mullets. I tend to associate it with redneck culture, probably because of the movie Joe Dirt, and every guy getting arrested on Cops. It seemed like mullet was banished to the dustbins of history, but, like everything in the 80's and 90's, it's back, baby.

Hairstylist John Vial gave one of clients a unique mullet, and shared a photo on Instagram, which went viral. This mullet looks futuristic, like something out of a science fiction movie. It's all space-business in the front, and a space-party in the back. This haircut wouldn't be out of place Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate - basically any movie with "Star" in front of it. Actually, it looks like a combination of a mullet and a bowl-cut. (Wow, is that going to come back now, too?)
In the comment section, there were a lot of hilarious replies.
"I love when hair just looks like a penis!!!" wrote @whatth3h0nk. "She did say she wanted to keep the length," quipped @the1andtony. One person felt nostalgic and said the mullet reminded her of the time her brother cut her Barbie's hair. @ashkutch4 told @oliviaatkinson that she should adopt the mullet as her next hairstyle, and @oliviaatkinson clapped back, "I think that would make school bearable to see you like that every day."
One person said the hairstyle would look cooler if the top was one color, and the bottom was a different color. And the hairstylist delivered!

In the next photo John posted on Instagram, one of his clients rocks a multi-color mullet nicknamed the "marine bowl." It's turquoise green on top, and aqua blue in the back. And the client even has matching eye shadow. It's like she just got back from a rave in Atlantis. Once again, people applauded John for his artistry. If they ever remake the movie The Fifth Element, clearly he should be the hairstylist.
If you want to get one of these futuristic mullets and give your parents a heart attack, you might want to buy a plane ticket. John is the co-founder of Salon Sloane in London, and now he is sure to inundated with mullet requests. You have to admit, it looks better than a man bun.
