It's fair to say that nobody is 100 percent happy with every aspect of themselves. It's good, then that a huge part of being able to enjoy life lies in self improvement, and with the advent of
, we're getting a lot closer to getting the
we want.
Now, a misshapen nose or a bit of excess
fat can be fixed with little more than a nominal fee and a short procedure, and it's brought about a new age of people dead-set on achieving the bodies of their dreams. Anastasia Reskoss and Quentin Dehar (who are both from France) are just two of those people, and they've dedicated their lives (and a lot of money) to look just like two iconic dolls from childhood.
For Anastasia, who comes from Paris, the dream manifested itself when she was in high school, when she found herself suffering from a couple of issues with the way she looked. All throughout her life until that moment, she had played with Barbie dolls, and after some soul-searching, she realised she was using the Mattel-made dolls as an ideal.
Instead of accepting that ideal was unreachable and giving up, Anastasia devoted her life to becoming as much like Barbie as she could. A year later, she had gone under the knife in order to get breast implants, as well as a nose job, which cost more than £8,000 altogether. How was she able to afford the surgery? With the help of her parents.
"
They didn't understand why I would want bigger breasts but they couldn't resist treating me to cosmetic surgery. At the end of the day, my parents would rather have a teenage daughter who takes care of her appearance than one who takes drugs.

For Quentin, though, the origins of his plastic surgery mission were less about issues about his body image, and more about the lavish lifestyle that Barbie's main squeeze Ken gets to enjoy. Growing up in Marseille, Quentin collected Ken dolls, along with the toy cars, houses and planes, and he says that compared to his "average" life, living like Ken would be a dream.
"
At secondary school, I just felt very average. I didn’t feel like me. I told myself that I had to go back to the idol of my childhood and become Ken. I read more magazines and began looking at various cosmetic procedures. I wanted to change my all my facial features to emulate Ken. But it was not just Ken’s looks that inspired me – it was also his dream billionaire lifestyle. I aspired to have the flashy cars and luxury designer clothes that my Ken doll had.

He asked his parents to pay for a nose job and botox for around £4,000, which they duly did. Fast forward to 2013, where Quentin and Anastasia met on a boat in St Tropez.
They fell in love immediately, and Anastasia says their love is true as that between Barbie and Ken.
"
We complement each other. He’s made me a better person and he’s my best friend. Quentin brings an amazing love to my life… We want to spend the rest of our lives together morphing into the dolls we love.
"
Although they don't smoke, drink, or do drugs of any kind, they've dedicated themselves to making themselves look as much as Barbie and Ken as possible, spending
£200,000 so far on surgeries including
lip injections, buttock implants, cheek fillers, ear reshaping surgery or botox. They push each other all the way, and at the end of the day, isn't that what we want from a partner?
