Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you fantasise about walking down the street and casting your eyes upon a stranger, gazing deep into their eyes, revealing the layers to their soul and realising there, in that moment, that they are yours forever? Is this something you believe happens? If so, then you are an idiot.
I am joking, of course (kind of). But in all seriousness, some people are firm believers in love at first sight, and in many cases, it is often claimed by many couples that this is how they came to meet their partner. But what is it we first notice about someone when we see them? How do we deem whether someone is attractive to us or not?
For me, it's their shoes. I'm a firm believer in dressing from the bottom up, and a good outfit starts with the shoes. If someone walks into a bar, a pub or past me in the street - I will look at their shoes and judge them based on that. A nice pair of Nikes, or a solid pair of Reeboks and I know that I will more than likely get on with them.

Obviously, that is my opinion and it's not reflective of the general population of males on this planet. And while I may spend the majority of my time staring at the ground and watching thousands of pairs of shoes walk past me on the daily, it turns out women are looking at something much different.
According to research conducted by Men's Health, the one thing women instantly notice on a man is their eyes. That's right gents, while you may think it's important to stuff your trousers with a sock or pump some serious iron in the gym, it's all about the eyes. The portals to the soul.

Luckily for us males, there was also a top five list of things that women look at when passing a man, giving us plenty of things to improve on. Obviously, at the top was the eyes. Then, following up in second is the smile. Third, your height. Fourth, it's all about your hands (lol, wtf?). And coming in at fifth is how you dress.
The research also conducted the same study but involving a man who was scantily clad in a pair of Speedos. This time around, women were more interested in a guys abs, then his face and then his biceps.

So there you go gentlemen, next time you're walking down the street, be sure to look up in order to give ladies the chance to gaze lovingly into your eyeballs. I'm not going to lie, that doesn't do much for me as I spend 90% of my time looking at the floor, desperately trying to judge someone on the basis of their shoes, so never give anyone the chance to look into my eyes. I'll guess I'll have to find my one true love some other way. Cry.
