Shirley Obert, 67, from Georgia, had been on her way to work at Chick-fil-A on Saturday, March 29, when she had an accident along the way.

In a Facebook post shared by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office in Georgia, the department asked people to be on the lookout for Obert - who had gray hair and was wearing her Chick-fil-A uniform - around Oxford Road and Abercrombie Road, believing she could have got lost in the area following the collision.

Anna Watkins, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office's public information officer, told The Macon Telegraph that "the one-vehicle accident involving a Mazda Miata occurred around 7AM" while Obert had been on her way to work.

She also confirmed to the outlet that Obert had been the only person in the vehicle at the time of the incident, and had driven her vehicle into a forest area where she called her husband.

He then "went to where she said she was, and could not find her."

Watkins added: "We do not know exactly what happened to make her car run off the road, She could have tried to avoid an animal, looked down for a minute, we just do not know."

By Saturday afternoon, multiple agencies had joined the search for Obert, including the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia State Patrol Aviation, Monroe County Fire Department, Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, and Forsyth Police Department.

The outlet reports that the search continued into Saturday evening, before resuming on Sunday, March 30, when her body was found at around 11.30AM.

Police revealed that Obert had tragically been found at the bottom of a deep well which was obscured by thick foliage, and shared photos of the difficult procedure to recover her body.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement: "The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has located Mrs. Shirley Obert. It is not the outcome that we were hoping for.

"She was found deceased at the bottom of a deep well that was surrounded by very thick brush, near where her car was found.

"Mrs. Obert appeared to have been trying to go for help when this incident occurred. This appears to be a tragic accident. Please keep her family and her co-workers in your thoughts and prayers."
